The PADC is used to correct atmospheric dispersion which appears as color fringing around the planet.
Color fringing appears as red defocused light on one side of the planet and blue defocused light on the other side of the planet.
This blue and red color fringing will degrade the amount of detail that can be seen on the planets.
The other effect of the color fringing is to defocus the light especially at the poles of the planet.
The use of a wedge prisim either singly or in pairs can be used to correct out the dispersion of light and will give you a much sharper view of the planets.
The wedge prism PADCs can be used to minimize or totally eliminate the color fringing and bring the light into focus around the pole edges.
The effect is striking and you can really see more detail especially when the planes are at lower elevations in the sky.
The PADCs can be used for Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They can also be used to some degree for double stars.
